Free a Girl works through a dual approach: a global network of trusted local partners and our own specialised intelligence unit.
In program countries, Free a Girl plays a supporting and facilitating role. Local partners focus on identifying victims, conducting rescue operations and providing immediate aftercare. Our Global Intelligence & Rescue Unit (GIRU) focuses on intelligence gathering, case development, and supporting investigations into transnational networks.
GIRU is not a law enforcement agency and does not have arrest or prosecution authority in the United States or Europe. It works in collaboration with local partners and law enforcement agencies. Using intelligence-led investigations, including online analysis and digital forensics, GIRU builds evidence and shares findings with authorities for coordinated action.
Rescue operations are always carried out with law enforcement and local partners.
After rescue, children receive immediate protection, medical care and psychological support. Long-term recovery focuses on education, empowerment and reintegration through programs such as the Dream Fund and School for Justice.
Justice is essential to breaking the cycle of exploitation. We support investigations and work with authorities to arrest and prosecute perpetrators.
Our work ensures that the legal system serves as a genuine deterrent, and that survivors are supported throughout the often difficult process of seeking justice.
Recovery does not end after rescue. We support survivors in rebuilding their lives through education, skills development and long-term opportunities.
Our goal is to support every survivor on their journey towards independence, self-determination and a life defined by their own choices — not their past.
Transforming survivors into changemakers
A unique education and empowerment program for young women who have survived sexual exploitation. Through self-selected education and intensive personal guidance, students rebuild their future — while actively working to change the system that once failed them.
Students of the School for Justice use both their lived experience and professional training to create impact where it is needed most. They work in vulnerable environments such as slums, favelas and red-light districts, where they:
By combining personal experience with professional expertise, they contribute to structural change from within.
What sets School for Justice apart is the belief that survivors aren't just recipients of aid — they are the most powerful agents of change.
Armed with education and professional training in child protection and human rights, graduates return to the very communities where exploitation thrives. Their unique combination of firsthand understanding and professional expertise allows them to build trust, shift attitudes and create lasting impact in ways that no outside intervention can replicate.
